The momonari shape (peach-shaped) is inspired by european helmets during the Momoyama period (1575 - 1615).  The Kachushi (Armour craftsmen) made them from two iron plates specifically joined together like the shell of a clam.  They where designed specifically to deflect the bullets from the new muskets appearing on the field of battle brought by the Portuguese and Spanish.  The momonari kabuto was made well known for its abilities on the battlefield during the campaign of Korea (1592-98) in Kyushu island.

This fine authentic reproduction of traditional Japanese momonari style kabuto is hand made by the Iron Mountain Armory. Each kabuto is supplied with the matching menpo and a portable kabuto stand, to be proudly displayied. Assembly instructions are also included. The kabuto is wearable and fully functional.

Features: Gashira class.  Made from 18 gauge iron, battle field and museum quality, cotton insert with cloth lining and portable wooden stand. Full authentic construction with cord embellishment on the neck protector and mask. This is one of the most authentic reproduction samurai kabuto on the market. Fits adult head size range of 55 to 65 cm.
